The country's leading battery manufacturer, Exide Industries Ltd on Monday kicked off its Batmobile Doorstep Service facility and extended its scope to its range of inverters and inverter batteries also under a single umbrella.

Launching the new service facility in the city, Director Automotive, Mr Arun Mittal said, "the inverter and its battery today is an important part of any modern household and our new service facility is aimed at making it more convenient for the customer to address his/her battery or inverter service issues."

Exide is one of the largest players in the branded inverter battery segment.

Under the new facility, a single WhatsApp message to 70440 00000 will get the service technician nearest to the customer's location to visit and resolve the issue. The earlier system of a central team of mechanics is being done away with in the interest of speed and scalability. For voice calls the earlier number of 1800-103-5454 is also available. Customers can also log in their complaints through the www.exidebatmobile.com portal.

While the service is free for Exide products under warranty, it is chargeable for any other brand or Exide out of warranty product.

After the initial launch in Kolkata, the service will be expanded to 250 cities nationally by the end of August.

The Batmobile Door Step service will cover the following types of Exide products - car batteries for individual owners, inverters and inverter batteries.

Team Exide won the prestigious Telegraph Cup - Merchants Cup Cricket 2020. Captained by Mr Jitendra Kumar, the corporate team won the trophy on 18th March at Calcutta Cricket and Football Club defeating the team from TCG. The winning trophy was handed over by international star Wriddhiman Saha. The tournament saw participation from 54 teams from the corporate world including Tata Steel, Ericsson, PWC, Larsen & Toubro and Star TV among others.

The award was received at a glittering ceremony in Mumbai the company’s Deputy Managing Director, Mr Subir Chakraborty.

Exide Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Gautam Chatterjee inaugurated the company's new look R&D Centre on Tuesday, 23rd April, 2019.

Speaking to a gathering of R&D employees and other senior colleagues, Mr. Chatterjee said, "R&D Centre is the center of gravity of any large organization that depends on cutting edge technology. Exide Industries Ltd has won the Global SAP Innovation Award 2019 for its Connected Battery project under the Global Industry Disruptor category. There were 225 entries from 48 countries vying for the prestigious award this year.

Talking about the win, the SAP President and Managing Director for the India Subcontinent, Mr Deb Deep Sengupta, said, "ït is heartening to see an Indian enterprise showing the way when it comes to re-imagining business models using emerging technologies. The impact of the Connected Battery initiative in terms of higher customer satisfaction and market share along with lower warranty cost helped it score over other entries, across countries and industries.”

As part of its CSR activities, Exide Industries recently donated an ambulance to the missionaries of Little Sisters of the Poor in Kolkata. The organization, among other activities, runs a large old age home for the abandoned poor of the city of Kolkata irrespective of their caste or creed. The global organization has been working in the city since 1882.

Exide received the CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2018 for Significant Achievement in Corporate Excellence. The Award was received from Sri Amitabh Kant, CEO – NITI Ayog on 12th Dec 2018 at New Delhi. Some of the other participating organizations in this competition included Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, TVS, ACC Cement, Cummins India, Tata Steel, Axis Bank and UltraTech.

Exide Industries Ltd won JIPM, Japan's Overseas Award for Excellence in Consistent TPM Commitment 2017.

The Award was received by Exide Team in JIPM TPM Awards Ceremony held at International Conference Centre, Kyoto, Japan on 21st March 2018.

The Chinchwad factory in Maharastra has been under JIPM assessment from February 2017 to January 2018 which included two stages of site assessment by Japanese Assessors.
